A former lode Au mine located in the E½ near the center (?) of sec. 27, T4S, R16E, MDM, 4.2 km (2.6 miles) ESE of Bear Valley, on Fremont Peak (4½ miles NE of Hornitos), on private (patented) land. Operated by Worth A. Brown. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in Late Jurassic volcanic rock (aphanitic). The ore body is tabular, strikes N70W and dips gently S. as a blanket vein in felsitic volcanics. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and unspecified underground openings, comprised of numerous open cuts and pits. Some development work was done in 1954.
