A former lode Au mine located in sec. 12, T5S, R17E, MDM, 1.7 km (5,600 feet) NW of Mount Bullion, along Norwegian Gulch. Operated during the period 1900 to 1915. Operated by J. E. Rea Jr. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. A former Las Mariposas grant mine.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in greenstone and slate. The ore body strikes N62W and dips steeply E. The quatz vein follows the contact between slate and massive pyroxene andesite greenstone of unknown age. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include unspecified underground openings.
Production data are found in: Bowen, O.E., Jr. & C.H. Gray, Jr. (1957).
Active 1900, 1905-1907 and 1912-1915, producing 232.10 tons of ore yielding $3,519.60, or an average of $15.30 (period values).
