Maschio Mine
A former lode Au-Cu mine located in sec. 30, T3S, R16E, MDM, 1.5 km (4,800 feet) WNW of Hunter Valley Mountain (coordinates of record) (near Castagnetto Mine). Operated by Frank Maschio (1943). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings with an overall depth of 15.24 meters and comprised of a 50 foot shaft and several open cuts.
Produced $5,000 (period values) of Au in 1902.
Copper ore is of "fair" grade.
