A former lode Au mine located in secs. 2 & 3, T5S, R16E, and in sec. 34, T4S, R16E, MDM, 2.3 km (7,700 feet) ESE of Quartzburg and 5.5 km (3.4 miles) ENE of Hornitos. Operated during the periods 1880-1912, 1935 & 1940. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit with a vein 2 to 4 feet thick, hosted in greenstone and slate. The ore body strikes NE and dips 30SE at a thickness of 1.22 meters. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings comprised of a 120 foot inclined shaft in 1904.

Production data are found in: Bowen, O.E., Jr. & C.H. Gray, Jr. (1957).

The last 2 shipments of ore ran about 0.3 ounce of Au and 0.5 ounce of Ag/ton.
