A Au occurrence/claim/mine located in the NW¼ (?) sec. 36, T3S, R19E, MDM, 2.7 km (9,000 feet) ESE of Hite Cove and 3.6 km (2.2 miles) NW of Peachtree Bar and 4.1 km (2.6 miles) SE of Incline, W of Pinoche Ridge (4½ miles WSW of Bear Valley), on National Forest land. Discovered in 1851. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Operated by Harry Taylor (1920). This mine was not precisely located during the USGS investigation.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include unspecified surface openings/operations. This mine had one of the first quartz mills built in California. It was equipped with wooden stamps.
