A Ag-Au occurrence located in secs. 20, 21, 28 & 29, T4S, R18E, MDM, 2.7 km (9,000 feet) NW of Colorado (5 airline miles N & slightly W of Mariposa), along Saxon Creek, on private (patented) property. Property consists of 3 patented claims. Discoverd in 1882. Operated by C. W. and Velma Worley. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Property also formerly contained the Talc claim, Lucky Lindy claim and the Charles claim.
Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings, which, in 1914 consisted of an 180 foot shaft with 140 feet of drifts, a winze and a 67 foot crosscut tunnel, mostly located on the Washington and Buena Vista claims.
Production information: Worked intermittently from 1882-1883 to 1929. Idle during most of the period 1929-1955. In 1892 an ore shoot 8 to 9 inches wide was struck in the vein at a depth of 15 feet, which ran $62.00 per ton (period values) in Au and $1.67 (period values) in Ag. Assays made in 1927-1928 varied from $6.40 to $32.96 per ton (period values).
