A former placer and lode Au mine located in sec. 16, T4S, R18E, MDM, 3.3 km (2.1 miles) NW of Colorado and 3.4 km (2.1 miles) SW of Briceburg, along Saxon Creek (3 miles NW of the Colorado School), on private land. Owned and operated by Lemuel B. Green (1990). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit and accompanying placer deposit hosted in Late Permian greenstone. The vein is a discontinuous blanket vein from inches to 3 feet thick. Schistosity locally strikes N60W and dips steeply SW.
The ore body strikes N and dips 30-35E at a thickness of 0.91 meter. The wall rocks are massive, schistose & slaty pyroxene andesite greenstones derived partly from tuff & partly from massive flows and dikes. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings with a total length of 121.92 meters and an overall depth of 10.67 meters. They are comprised of open cuts, adits, and shafts.

Production information: Total production was probably $200,000 - $300,000 (period values). The deposit was placered before the vein was located.
