A former lode and placer (?) Au mine located in sec. 36, T7S, R16E, and in sec. 1, T8S, R16E, MDM, 5.1 km (3.2 miles) W of Flat Top Mountain, along Mariposa Creek, near the Merced County line. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
This locality appears as an area of dredge tailings on the topo map. It is apparently a combination of a lode mine and a dredge mine. Another locality with the similar/same name exists nearby and is covered in a separate file. References in the MRDS databasse file are incomplete.
Local rocks include Eocene nonmarine rocks, unit 1 (Northern and Central California).
