A former lode Au mine located in the SE¼ (estimated) sec. 23, T5S, R17E, MDM, 0.3 km (900 feet) SE of Buck Point (coordinates of record) and 3.7 km (2.3 miles) SW of Mount Bullion (6 miles W of Mariposa). Operated in 1905 (last active year). Operated by Horace Meyer (?). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Land has probably reverted to agricultural status. One of the mines of the Las Mariposas grant.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include unspecified underground openings.
