A former lode Au mine located in the E½ (estimated) sec. 2, T5S, R19E, MDM, 2.5 km (8,100 feet) WNW of Darrah, along the crest of Buckingham Mountain, and about 8 miles NE of Mariposa. Operated by Mrs. Barney Kane, Roy Green (1932). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granitic gneiss. The ore body strikes NE and dips 55SE at a thickness of 1.22 meters. The vein is an average of 4 feet thick. The ore is native gold in quartz. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 10.67 meters and comprised of 2 tuinnels at 50 and 140 feet long, a 35 foot vertical shaft and a connecting 18 foot drift.
