A former placer Au occurrence/mine (dredge) located in secs. 10, 11 & 14, T5S, R16E, MDM, 3.8 km (2.3 miles) ENE of Hornitos, W of El Dorado Creek. Owned and operated by the Barker Corporation. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
The Barker Corporation operated dredges on this property & on properties in Hunter & Bear Valleys. During the period 1940-1942 deposits yielded between 17 and 27 cents (period values) per cubic yard and grossed over $1,000,000 during the period.
