A magnesite occurrence located in the SW¼ (probable) sec. 30, T5S, R19E, MDM, 2.4 km (7,800 feet) NE of Mormon Bar and 3.7 km (2.3 miles) ESE of Mariposa and about 1 mile NE of the county fair grounds, on Big Spring Hill. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Undeveloped. Occurrence is probably too small to be of economic importance.
