A Mn occurrence located in the center sec. 30, T4N, R7W, MDM, along Petaluma-Point Reyes Road, 11.1 km (7.0 miles) NW of Novato (1 mile S of Union School). Discovered in 1918. Operated by Respini and Morelli. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Ore body is a massive bed of Mn ore traced 40 feet on surface and is at least 3 feet thick. The black ore has iron-stained spherules of silica. The silica content is probably 20 to 35%. Local rocks include Franciscan schist.
