A former lode Au mine located in the N½ center (estimated) sec. 14, T8S, R21E, MDM, 5.7 km (3.5 miles) ESE of Coarsegold, along the North Fork Fine Gold Creek (3 miles N of Ward Mountain). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
NOTE: MRDS file #10139225 is stated to be an additional applicable record for this locality per MRDS file #10035095. It contains a lesser volume of data than #10035095, but states that this locality is located in sec. 30, T9S, R22E, MDM, which is in obvious error.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with a 1 to 5 foot thick vein, hosted in slate and syenite. The main ore shoot is 250 feet long. The ore body dips 60NE at a thickness of 1.52 meters. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an upper and a lower tunnel, each about 700 feet long, plus a 10-stamp stamp mill.
The ore carries 2% sulfides which average an assay value of $150/ton of Au (period values) (1888).
