A former lode Au group of claims/prospect/mine located in the W½SW¼ (estimated) sec. 23, T7S, R20E, MDM, 2.4 km (7,800 feet) S of Indian Hill (coordinates of record). Discovered in 1883. Property consisted of 3 unpatented claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Mine reported to lie ¾ mile W of the Savannah Mine.
Mineralization is a vein deposit, with a vein 18 inches (40 cm) to 4 feet (1.25 meters) thick, hosted in granite and schist. The ore body strikes N50W and dips 50NE at a thickness of 1.22 meters. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include surface and underground openings. There are 4 adits on the Butterfly claim, No. 1 is 150 feet long with 200 feet of drifts and a 98 foot winze; No. 2 is 500 feet long with 100 feet of drifts and a 40 foot winze; No. 3 is 160 feet long; and, No. 4 is 200 feet long. There are surface cuts on the Bumble Bee claim. There is a 300 foot adit with 160 feet of drifts on the Contact claim.
