Mineralization is a quartz crystal deposit. Local rocks include Plio-Pleistocene and Pliocene loosely consolidated deposits.
Rare scepter crystals found here as well as some smoky and amethyst crystals. Crystals can be found on top of the ground and digging will turn up some almost anywhere. The best area seems to be about halfway up the mountain, S of the parking area, but they are found all over the hill in at least a half mile square.
Workings include surface and underground openings. Deposit is now worked out by collectors.
