A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in secs. 25 & 36, T29S, R40E, MDM, 1.5 km (0.9 mile) WNW of Johannesburg and 1.2 km (0.8 mile) NE of Randsburg. The property covers 90 acres. Owned by T.C. Welsh, Los Angeles, California (1949- ); H.E. Marsh, Torrance, California (1949- ). Operated by the International Mining and Milling Company (1949- ). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in schist. Several parallel veins occur on the property. The ore was reported to be high-grade. Gangue includes quartz. Local rocks include schist of various types and ages, unit 2 (Southern and West-central California).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 225 foot shaft with a crosscut on the 200 foot level and a 100 foot deep winze. There are levels at 50, 100, 150 and 200 feet. Workings aggregate several thousand feet.
The ore was free-milling. Early operators reported to have extracted $20-$40 (period values) Au/ton.
