A former Au-Ag-Sb mine located in sec. 1, T30S, R40E, MDM, about 3 km ESE of Randsburg and about 2/3 mile SW of Red Mountain. The property covers 180 acres. Owned by Frank W. Royer, Red Mountain, California. Operated by St. Lawrence Rand Mining Co., Bakersfield, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.

NOTE: The geographic coordinates presented in this Mindat file are taken from USGS MRDS database file #10048752. They place this mine in San Bernardino County, close to the Kern County line. They are not within the area of accuracy stated, which may, itself, be erroneous. There is a cluster of shaft symbols in sec. 1 in Kern County right over the county line, near the spot representing the coordinates. The coordinates presented in the other MRDS file #10163908 place this mine in section 2, therefore in error. Both MRDS files state that the mine is in sec. 1.

Mineralization is hosted in schist. The ore body is pinch and swell in form, strikes N70E and dips 65S at a thickness of 1.22 meters. There are 2 parallel veins, each 1 to 4 feet thick. The principal Ag ore was found on the 240 foot level, 200 feet E of the shaft. The ore shoot is 40 feet long and 4 feet wide. The vein has strong walls with strong development of gouge and slickensides. The vein matter is a gray, siliceous material, locally brecciated. Gangue includes quartz and calcite. Local alteration includes oxidation down to 250 feet, as measured down dip of the vein. Associated rocks include diabase. Local rocks include Precambrian rocks, undivided, unit 2 (Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).

Workings include underground openings comprised of 2 inclines sunk on the K.C.N. vein, No. 1 is 275 feet deep on a 67 degree inclination. No. 2 is 300 feet deep, with levels at 100, 200 and 240 feet with several thousand feet of drifts.
