A former lode Pb-Au-Sb-As occurrence/mine located in sec. 33, T28S, R35E, MDM, along Kelso Valley Road, about 7.6 km ENE of Sorrell Peak and about 16 miles SE of Weldon. Discovered in 1875. The property is comprised of 8 unpatented claims covering 160 acres. Owned by Karl Struss (1949- ). Operated by Ross W. Prout and W. H. Curtis, San Fernando, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. This is an old property originally worked in the 1870's by Senators Jones and Stewart of Nevada.

Mineralization is hosted in granodiorite. The ore body strikes N50E and dips 32-40S. Several aplite dikes, 2 to 3 feet thick, and a monzonite dike 3 to 20 feet thick occur here. The vein is faulted in many places, both longitudinally and transversely. One set of transverse faults trends E and dips vertically; the other trends N57E and dips 55 to 60S. They are both post-mineral and pre-mineral. The transverse faults are mostly post mineral. Displacements range from 3 to 150 feet. Gangue includes quartz. Controls for ore emplacement included a fault. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).

Workings include underground openings.The property was developed by 3 shafts. The westernmost or main shaft is ___ (600 ?) feet deep. At a point 175 feet E is a 350 foot shaft, which connects at the 300 foot level with a third shaft that is 160 feet father E. Development work was carried on through the 350 foot shaft. The 350 foot level was under water. Pumping was done 15 feet above this level with a No. 6 C_meron pump driven by compressed air. On the 300 foot level a drift was driven 135 feet NW from the shaft, at which point old workings were encountered. Some good ore, a faulted segment of that formerly worked, was found in this drift. The ore was processed in 2 mills near Tunnel Springs.
