A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the NW¼ sec. 36, T27S, R41E, MDM, 1.7 km (1.1 miles) S of the Spangler Hills (coordinates of record), on the western slope of the hills (9 miles SE of China Lake). This property has been worked intermittently since 1896. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granite. The ore body strikes E and dips 50S. Local rocks include Tertiary nonmarine rocks, undivided and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include unspecified underground openings (the topo map reflects 3 shaft symbols and at least 3 adit symbols).
Production data are found in: Wright, L.A., et al (1953).
A small tonnage of ore was shipped averaging $40 (period values) Au/ton. No other production information was found.
