A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 27, T28S, R34E, MDM, 4.4 km (2.7 miles) SSW of Sorrell Peak, on the divide between Smith Canyon on the W and Big Hart Canyon on the E. The property is comprised of 4 claims. Owned by Herbert Gorman, Piute, California (1933- ). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. These are old prospects that were probably later renamed and/or consolidated into larger mine holdings.
Mineralization is hosted in granite. The ore body strikes NE-SW and dips 70SE at a thickness of 0.61 meter. The vein is 2 feet thick. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 45.72 meters.
