A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 25, T29S, R40E, MDM, 0.8 km (0.5 mile) N of Johannesburg. Owned by the Shipsey Mining Company. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. The ore body strikes N-S, dips E at a thickness of 0.51 meter. Veins are small. Local rocks include schist of various types and ages, unit 2 (Southern and West-central California) and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 701.04 meters and an overall depth of 91.44 meters and comprised of an incline, a 300 foot tunnel and 2,000 feet of drifts.
