A former lode Cu occurrence/mine located in the SE¼ sec. 4 and in the NW¼ sec. 10, T26S, R29E, MDM, 0.3 km (0.2 mile) WSW of Iron Mountain (coordinates of record and 2.6 km (1.6 miles) SW of Woody, on Iron Mountain. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
NOTE: Neither set of geographic coordinates presented in the 2 USGS MRDS database files places this locality in either sec. 4 or sec. 10 (sections share a common corner only); however, they do place it in sec. 9 at the NE boundary with sec. 10, within the degree of accuracy stated.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schist. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 2 shafts at 35 feet and 16 feet deep.
Several small shipments were made.
