A former Au prospect/mine located in the NW¼ sec. 5, T29S, R34E, MDM, 2.5 km (1.6 miles) W of Claraville, on National Forest land. The property is comprised of 2 claims. Owned by H. K. Patch, Los Angeles, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in granite. The ore body strikes N70E and dips 68S at a thickness of 0.46 meter. There are 2 parallel veins at 6 to 18 inches (15 to 45 cm) thick. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of several tunnels and shallow shafts. The lower tunnel was driven as a crosscut 40 feet N, then drifted on the vein 350 feet to the NE. At 200 feet NE of the portal, it connects with shafts from surface 76 feet deep. 200 feet to the W, several shafts 40 to 50 feet deep were sunk on the parallel vein.
