A former Au (trace)-Cu-Ag-Zn-In occurrence/mine located in the SW¼NE¼ sec. 26, T27S, R33E (MDM), about 9 km (5¾ miles) ESE of Bodfish, along the W canyon wall of Erskine Creek, on National Forest land. Owner John Hooper, Hobo Hot Springs, California. The property is comprised of 6 claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10104163 presents erroneous geographic coordinates placing this locality beneath Lake Isabella (reservoir); however, it presents T&R values consistent with the other 2 files. The error results in some erroneous data in the file such as local rocks.
Mineralization is hosted in limestone. The ore body strikes N17W and dips 38NE at a thickness of 3.66 meters. The mineralized fracture zone is 1 to 12 feet thick. Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.
Workings include underground openings. Development consists of an upper tunnel driven SE 70 feet with a 45 foot shaft. The lower tunnel is 96 feet vertically below the upper tunnel. It has been driven E 125 feet, where it branches NE and SE 70 feet to the limestone schist contact. At the point where the southern branch reached the contact, a raise was put up 80 feet to connect with the 45 foot shaft. At the end of the northern branch, a 70 foot raise has been driven. From the end of each branch, a crosscut has been driven easterly 130 feet in the limestone. These crosscuts were to be continued to the monzonite-limestone contact.
