A W occurrence located in NW¼ sec. 7, T27S, R35E, MDM, 3.6 km (2.3 miles) SE of Nicolls Peak (coordinates of record) and 4.0 km (2.5 miles) ENE of Heald Peak (coordinates of record) (5¼ miles SSE of Weldon). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10095269 presents geographic coordinates of -118.25675, 36.13775 that place this locality in Tulare County. That same MRDS file presents the same T&R values as file #10212269; therefore, those coordinates are in error.
Mineralization is hosted in hornfels. The ore body strikes N70W and dips vertically at a thickness of 1.22 meters and a length of 30.48 meters. Associated rocks include quartz monzonite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Local structures include a fault, which offsets tactite about 80 feet to the NE.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a drift adit driven N70W for a few tens of feet, a 10 foot deep shaft about 50 feet NW from the adit portal, plus 3 ten foot shafts on a segment of tactite offset.
