A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 12, T29S, R33E, MDM, 9.9 km (6.1 miles) WSW of Piute Peak (coordinates of record), in the NE margin of Walker Basin, E of Walker Basin Creek. Discovered and first operated in 1865. The property is comprised of 2 patented claims. Operated by Dan Cronin and Associates of Bakersfield, California. Owned by J. B. Huggin and Phoebe A. Hearst estates. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. Work was stopped in 1874 due to flooding with a water volume greater than the pumps could handle.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granite. The ore body strikes NE-SW and dips 60SE at a thickness of 6.1 meters. The vein is 2 to 20 feet thick with well-defined, smooth walls and clay gouge. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).

Workings include underground openings comprised of a 250 foot and a 350 foot inclines. Lessees were pumping water out of the shaft. As of November 1, 1946, they were within as few feet of the 250 foot level. Ore was stoped out from the 250 and 350 levels to surface for a distance of 700 feet during earlier workings. Ore was treated in a 20-stamp mill.

Production data are found in: Tucker, W. Burling, Reid J. Sampson, & Gordon Blaisdell Oakeshott (1949); Goodyear, Watson Andrews (1888).

Much of the ore from the upper portions of the mine went over $100 (period values) per ton. Concentrated sulfides (not specified) were stated to have yielded $3,000 (period values)/ton.
