A former lode Au-W occurrence/mine located in the SW¼ (estimated) sec. 11, T30S, R40E, MDM, 1.7 km (1.1 miles) SSE of Government Peak (coordinates of record) (2¼ miles SSW of Randsburg), on private (patented) land. Produced during the 1950's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schist. The ore body strikes N70W and dips 55SW. The deposit is scheelite-bearing shear zones. A bedding plane shear zone strikes N10W and dips 30W and probably contains scheelite. The S end of the bedding plane shear is truncated by a N70W shear zone. Controls for ore emplacement included the shear zones. Local rocks include Precambrian rocks, undivided, unit 2 (Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 40 foot open cut extending N70W and a N10W-trending trench. An inclined shaft was sunk 200 feet SE from the open cut. A moderately large dump exists at the inclined shaft. The extent of the workings is undetermined.
An undetermined output of scheelite occurred in the 1950's.
