A W occurrence/prospect located at the approximate center of W edge of sec. 7, T27S, R35E, MDM, 3.5 km (2.2 miles) E of Heald Peak (coordinates of record), along the W canyon wall of the Kelso Valley (5 miles SSE of Weldon), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in schist and hornfels. The ore body strikes N40W and dips 40-60SW at a thickness of 1.52 meters and a length of 5.72 meters. Poorly layered tactite is surrounded y thinly-layered , siliceous and calcareous hornfelses and mica schist. Associated rocks include quartz monzonite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include surface and underground openings and are comprised of a drift adit at the SE end of the outcrop plus several open cuts along the strike to the NW. The drift adit is about 100 feet long and trends N80W.
