A W-Mo occurrence located in the N½SW¼ (estimated) sec. 23, T27S, R32E, MDM, 8.6 km (5.3 miles) ESE of Lake Isabella (town) and 8.6 km (5.3 miles) ESE of Bodfish, along Erskine Creek, W of Laura Peak, on Bureau of Land Management administered wilderness land (Piute Cypress Wilderness Study Area). Operated during the period 1954 to 1956. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is .
The ore body is pinch-and-swell in form, strikes N50W and dips 70SW at a width of 1.22 meters and a length of 21.34 meters. Controls for ore emplacement included the planes of schistosity and cross fractures in shear zones. The main ore zone pinches and swells irregularly both horizontally and vertically, ranging in width from 18 inches to 4 feet (45 cm to 1.21 meters). The western ore body, 100 feet W of the main shaft strikes N80E and dips 70S. It is much smaller than the main body. Metamorphic rocks in the roof pendant include limestone, phyllite, argillite and hornfels. Schistosity strikes N30-70W and dips 70SW. Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.
Workings include underground openings comprised of at a shaft.
Production data are found in: Troxel, Bennie Wyatt & P.K. Morton (1962).
Probably at least several hundred units of W concentrates were recovered from ore mined.
