A former lode W-Au occurrence/mine located in the NW¼ (estimated) sec. 4, T27S, R34E, MDM, 7.3 km (4.6 miles) SW of Weldon, along the W canyon wall of Long Canyon, near the canyon's mouth, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. MAy be a Au prospect.
Mineralization is hosted in diorite. The ore body strikes N35W and dips vertically at a width of 1.52 meters. The vein occurs in dark, silicified quartz-sericite schist and fine-grained diorite. The sheared vein, 2 to 5 feet wide), is exposed for about 300 feet along the surface. It is locally along pods of diopside-rich rock. GAngue include quartz. Some Cu & Fe stains occur on the vein. Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided and/or Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 15.24 meters and comprised of a 50 foot vertical shaft.
Production is undetermined.
