A former lode W-Au occurrence/mine located in the NW¼ (estimated) sec. 12, T30S, R40E, MDM, about 2.6 km ESE of Government Peak (2 miles S of Randsburg). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schist. The ore body strikes E and dips 40-45N at a thickness of 0.61 meter and a length of 91.44 meters. The vein ranges from 2 inches (5 cm) to 2 feet (60 cm) in thickness. Local rocks include Precambrian rocks, undivided, unit 2 (Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 350.52 meters and an overall depth of 45.72 meters and are comprised of a 35 degree inclined shaft to the 150 foot depth with approximately 1,000 feet of drifts on 3 levels.
Production data are found in: Troxel, Bennie Wyatt & P.K. Morton (1962).
There was an undetermined output of scheelite in the 1940's and 1950's A few tens of ounces of Au were produced in the late 1920's.
