Van Loon prospect; Raindrop prospect


A W occurrence located in secs. 9 & 10, T7S, R31E, MDM, 9.3 km (5.8 miles) W of West Bishop, on the western margin of the Tungsten Hills, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. The Van Loon occurs in sec. 10, while the Raindrop is in sec. 9.

Mineralization is hosted in quartz monzonite. The ore body strikes N80W and dips vertical. The body on the Raindrop prospect consists of a small, elongate body 30 feet long and 6 to 16 feet wide. The body on the Van Loon prospect is more or less a circular body of quartz. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).

Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of an open cut on the Raindrop. The Van Loon was explored through a short adit and a raise (the topo map reflects 2 adit symbols).

Analytical data results: Probably less than 0.5% WO3.
