A Cu-Fe-silica occurrence located 3.0 km (1.8 miles) SW of Mountain Spring (0.7 mile SE of the mouth of Mountain Springs Canyon), on military reservation land (China Lake Naval Ordnance Test Station). Discovered by Oliver Hopkins, Wm. J. Lange in 1938. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in quartz diorite. The ore body is tabular, strikes N37W and dips 45SW. Controls for ore emplacement included mineralized fluids intruded along a quartz-diorite - aplite dike contact. The shear zone is developed along the footwall contact of a NW-striking aplite dike. The zone is consistently 1 foot (0.31 meter)m thick. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).

Workings include surface and underground openings with a length of 9.14 meter, overall width of 1.52 meters, and consist of 20 feet of drift along the strike of the shear zone. The workings were developed to explore the extent of 1 foot thick quartz-rich mineralized zone. This shear zone exhibited traces of Cu minerals and limonite. A winze was sunk at the face of the drift following the down dip of the zone. It is now full of muck 10 feet down. Three small prospect pits on surface, down dip from the adit, failed to hit anything but aplite.
