A placer Au occurrence located in sec. 31, T23S, R42E, MDM, 5.1 km (3.2 miles) NW of Argus Peak (coordinates of record) (approximately 2.6 miles SW of Birchum Springs; approximately 4.2 miles from the Wolf Ruth Mine, within a radius of 1000 feet), on military reservation land (China Lake Naval Ordnance Test Station). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Field investigation note in MRDS file: Only one claim marker found, no papers. Area thoroughly investiagted with no sign of workings. I am therefotre assuming it was a placer claim along an intermittent channel.
The ore body is irregular in form. Located along an intermittant stream channel. Controls for ore emplacement included the stream channel. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include surface operations (?) with an overall length of 457.2 meters and an overall width of 182.88 meters. No evidence of workings!
