A former Pb-Ag-Au-Cu mine located in sec. 36, T16S, R44E, MDM (both MRDS files) , 9.5 km (5.9 miles) N of Skidoo, 15 miles SW of Stovepipe Wells, on the E slope of the northern Panamint Mountains, on National Park Service wilderness land (Death Valley National Park/Death Valley Wilderness). Operated in 1925, 1927, 1947, and 1951-1953. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

NOTE: A T&R value of SE¼ sec. 9, T17S, R43E (MDM) was initially listed in this file. That is the correct T&R value for the La Moigne [1] Mine (La Moigne Lead Mine - Bullet Mine), in Lemoigne Canyon, Cottonwood Mountains.

Jean Francois de Lamoignon, (was) born in February 1857 at Lamoignon, France, and educated in England, Paris, and Germany as a mining engineer.

According to Crampton, Lemoigne's silver prospect, complete with shack, was located north of Skidoo, and it was this property that actually supported him and paid his bills and grubstakes.

Mineralization is hosted in limestone. The ore body is lenticular, strikes N-S and dips 65W. Irregular lenses occur along a fissure in limestone, beneath a thrust plate. Local rocks include Precambrian rocks, undivided, unit 1 (Death Valley).

Workings include underground openings with a length of 457.2 meters, and comprised of 2 tunnels, one 25 feet long and the other 165 feet long.

Production data are contained in Tucker, W.B. (1926): 488.

Production was 250 tons shipped carrying 50% Pb and 5 ounces Ag/ton. Average content in 1925 was 0.28 ounces Au, 3.76 ounces Ag, and 28% Pb, plus recoverable Cu.
