A former Pb-Cu-Ag-Au-Zn mine located in sec. 13, T7S, R34E, MDM, 2.7 km (1.7 miles) SSW of Sierra View (coordinates of record), overlooking Black Canyon from the eastern ridge, on National Forest wilderness land (Black Canyon Roadless Area Review & Evaluation (RARE II) Area). The property was comprised of 58 acres. Operated during the periods 1925-1927 & 1949-1950. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in quartzite. The ore body is lenticular in form, strikes N and dips 40W. It is a shear zone, tabular in form. The primary mode of origin was hydrothermal. Primary ore control was faulting. Irregular lenses of ore occur in limestone close to contact of quartzite. The bulk of the ore is cerussite and smithsonite. Local rocks include Cambrian marine rocks.
Workings include surface and underground openings with a length of 167.64 meters and an overall depth of 45.72 meters, and comprised of a 50 foot deep shaft and a 100 foot tunnel on the S slope of the ridge. On the N slope, 100 feet below the other workings, is a tunnel driven S 300 feet, following a fault fissure. There are 100 feet of drifts on the fissure.
