A W-Cu-Mo-Ag-Au mine located in secs. 29, 30 & 31, T6S, R30E, MDM, 3.0 km (1.9 miles) SW of Scheelite, along the North Branch Morgan Creek near its confluence with Pine Creek (1 mile SE of Mount Morgan), in the Sierra Nevada, near the Pine Creek Mine, on private (patented) land within a National Forest area. Discovered in 1939. First production was in 1942. Owned by Paniminas Inc. (100%), California (1981). Operated by Union Carbide Mining and Metals Division - Pine Creek (100%), California (1981). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in marble. There are 2 ore bodies, the Northwest Ore Body and the Ridge Ore Body. The NW ore body is a horseshoe-shaped tactite zone, while the ridge ore body is a tactite bed. Ore body No. 1 strikes N5W and dips 72E at a thickness of 30 meters, a width of 800 meters and length of 100 meters. It is disseminated and irregular. Ore body No. 2 is a replacemetn body and tabular in shape. The primary mode of origin was contact metamorphism. The primary ore control was the contact zone and the secondary control was lithology. There is slight wallrock alteration (carbonate silicification). The mine is on the Pine Creek pendant. Local rocks include Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 7 (Bishop).

Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a 1,300 foot main adit and 1,600 feet of level workings plus some open cuts. The site has a mill installed (beneficiation - flotation method). The mining method employed was caving methods - sublevel caving.

Production data are found in: Norman, L.A. & Richard M. Stewart (1951).

Production statistics: Year: 1943 (period = 1942-1943): 41,000 tons of ore.
Year: 1957 (period = 1954-1957): 68,400 tons of ore.
Tungsten ore mined after 1959 was included with that from the Pine Creek Mine.
