A former lode Au mine located in the NE¼ sec. 24, T11N, R10E, MDM, 1.6 km (1.0 mile) SE of Kelsey, along Texas Canyon (3¾ miles E of Coloma), on private land. Operated by H. J. Picchetti. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Possibly the same as the North Star location adjoining the Big Chunk on the S, shown on Pl. 2, Bulletin 108, or possibly the "Dark Canyon" claim shown in the E½SE¼ of the section.
Mineralization is a vein & pocket deposit on the Mother Lode with an 18 inch (30 cm) vein. The vein is the S extension of the Big Chunk vein. The ore occurs in pockets. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an 80 foot shaft and a 150 foot adit.
