A former lode Au mine located in sec. 33, T12N, R10E, MDM, 0.9 km (0.6 mile) SW of Garden Valley (4 ½ miles SSW of Georgetown), on private land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10284787 states that this is a Cr mine but provides the approximate same coordinates and T&R values for the locality and even provides a reference in Bulletin 134 (Cr deposits). This is highly unlikely and there would appear to be a mix-up of data with those for another locality in that MRDS file.

Mineralization is a vein & pocket deposit hosted in slate and schist. Several quartz veins and veinlets on the Mother Lode in highly weathered schist and slate. A large, low-grade vein, that strikes N25W, intersects a small, high-grade vein that strikes N15E. A diabase dike lies just to the E. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a 180 foot shaft with levels at 60 and 97 feet. 1,200 feet of drifts were driven on the 60 foot level and 1,00 feet of drifts on the 97 level. There are several adits and open cuts.

Production data are found in: Clark, Wm. B. & D.W. Carlson (1956).

Ore contained $12 (period values) Au/ton. Some country rock enclosing the quartz veinlets contained up to $4 (period values) per ton. Several pockets of high-grade ore were mined in the 1930's.
