A former lode Au occurrence/claim/mine located in the W½SE¼ sec. 18, T13N, R11E, MDM, 1.0 km (0.6 mile) SSW of Volcanoville, in Quartz Canyon, on National Forest land. The claim comprises 22 acres. Operated prior to 1894. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. The southern extension of the Josephine Mine.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada) and/or ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface openings.
Production data are found in: Clark, Wm. B. & D.W. Carlson (1956).
