A former placer Au occurrence/drift mine located in sec. 16, T10N, R11E, MDM, 0.3 km (0.2 mile) S of Texas Hill (ridge) (coordinates of record), and about 2¼ miles E of Placerville. Operated around 1894. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Indicated as holdings of the Eldorado Water and Deep gravel Mining Co. and includes an area in the S½SW¼ sec. 10 (contiguous to sec. 16 on NE)(p. 173, Lindgren (1911)).
Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 1,500 foot drift, a 75 foot incline and a 157 foot shaft. Breasts up to 100 feet in width. Gravel was treated in a 10-stamp mill and 100 foot sluice.
