A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in secs. 2, 3 & 11, T11N, R10E, MDM, about 4 km NNW of Kelsey and about 4 km (1½ miles SE of Garden Valley) SSE of Garden Valley, S of Irish Creek, on private land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in Late Jurassic slate. The ore body strikes N10W and dips 60NE. The deposit is a 6 foot thick vein on the Mother Lode. Ore occurs in lenticular forms, but not continuing for any great distance, but invariably returning in similar veins along the same fissure. At 550 feet of depth in the main shaft, the quartz is said to give out to fault gouge which 160 feet N of the shaft at the 500 foot level, is 5 feet thick with slickensides on both walls. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 900 foot inclined shaft with levels at 100, 200 & 900 foot levels with a winze from the 900 foot level.

Production statistics: Year: 1878 (period = 1867 to 1878)(accurate): Au @ 18 grams/metric ton. Ore ranged from $8.54 to $27.00 (period values) Au/ton.
