A former Cr-Fe occurrence/mine located in the SW¼NE¼ sec. 5, T11N, R10E, MDM, about 4.6 km (2½ miles) NNE of Coloma (2.9 km (9,500 feet) SW of Garden Valley; ¼ mile N of the Simon Mine), on private land (fee ownership). Discovered in 1917. Owned by David and Cynthia Cole (100%), California (1976); and C. Cupertino. Operated by Union Chrome Company during WWI, last operator (1918), California. Idle since 1918. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in harzburgite, dunite, and serpentinite. The ore body strikes N00S and dips 70W at a thickness of 14 meters, wifdth of 2 meters, and a length of 52 meters. Ore body No. 1 is tabular, disseminated. Ore body No. 2 is other, irregular. The primary mode of origin was magmatic differentiation. The secondary control was faulting. Wallrock alteration is intense (carbonitization & silicification). This mine is located on the eastern edge of an irregularly shaped ultramafic mass with 2 N-S-trending arms, each ¼ to ½ mile thick, that join towards the S, giving the mass a synclinal appearance. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Local structures include a shear zone which cuts across the ultramafic body, striking N-S and dipping 70W.
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a large 30 foot deep pit, a 15 foot shaft and several prospect pits, and a drift.

First produced in 1917.
Past production was 1,284 tons of ore at a grade of 30% Cr2O3, all during the period 1917-1918. No reserve estimate.
