A former lode Au mine located in sec. 6, T10N, R11E and in sec. 36, T11N, R11E, MDM, 1.9 km (1.2 miles) NW of Chili Bar and about 3 km (1.8 miles) N of Placerville, on private land. Operated during the period 1890 to 1906. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate. The ore body strikes NW and dips NE. There are 5 parallel veins in slate. Ore shoots are up to 150 feet wide and 30 feet thick. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with a 600 foot and a 1,550 foot inclined shafts, a 2,400 foot adit and much drifting.
Production data are found in: Clark and Carlson (1956).
The ore ran $2.50 to $4.80 (period values) Au/ton. There was considerable production but no figures given.
