A former lode Au mine located in the SE¼ sec. 12 & in the NE¼ 13, T9N, R10E, MDM, 1.9 km (1.2 miles) E of Logtown (site), W of Martinez Creek (3½ miles S of El Dorado), on private land. Red Wing claim contains 20 acres. Operated by David Loofbourrow (time frame unknown). Operated by W. H. Jones, J. E. Sawyer, and P. J. Loveless (time frame unknown). Operated around 1914-1922 and 1926. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
The references are confusing. Logan (1938) shows the Red Wing in secs. 14 & 23, and the Red Top in secs. 12 & 13 . Logan (1926) lists the Red Wing in the same sections as Logan (1938), but does not include the Red Top. Plate II, Logan (1938) does not include the Red Wing. Further, there is entire second set of USGS MRDS database files for the Red Wing (no mention of the Red Top) in secs. 14 & 23, including a second MAS-MILS file. Editor's note: The foregoing circumstance considered, it would appear as if the Red Wing is located in secs. 14 & 23 and the Red Top is located in secs. 12 & 13.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in Late Permian Mariposa slate. The ore body strikes N10E and dips 70SE. The vein is 5 feet thick. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of an upper adit 125 feet long and a lower adit 525 feet long crosscut adit and drifts. A 2-stamp mill was erected.

A small amount of Au was produced in 1926.
