A former lode Au mine located in secs. 10, 11, 14 & 15, T9N, R10E, MDM, 0.6 km (0.3 mile) WSW of Logtown (site), along highway 49 (2½ miles S of El Dorado), on private land. Discovered in 1854. Operated by G. Q. Chase, et al. Operated intermittently during the period 1854 to 1896. Prospected circa 1939. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. No real evidence of Au in sec. 15. The claim barely touches the NE corner of sec. 15. May be the same as, or includes, the Staples claim, in Logtown . Logan (1938), p. 266 shows holdings of 37 acres; however, Pl. II shows 59.7 acres .
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in diorite, on the Mother Lode. The ore body strikes NW and dips NE. There are 2 veins 300 feet apart in diorite porphyry. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of inclined shafts at 400 and 300 feet, respectively, and about 1,700 feet of drifts. A 10-stamp mill was erected.

The ore ranged in value from $4 to $25 (period values) Au per ton.
