A former placer Au occurrence/hydraulic mine located in sec. 11 & in sec. 12, T10N, R11E, MDM, 0.9 km (0.6 mile) SW of Five Mile Terrace, S of US highway 50. Land holdings are 146.87 acres. Operated in the 1880's and during the period 1932 to 1935. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. The latest reference gives the location in secs. 11 or 12; Logan (1938), Pl. II, shows the location in the NE¼ of sec. 1. This mine was operated as a relief project and gave employment to 100 men.
Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
About $20,000 (period values) of Au was produced during the period 1932 to 1935.
