A former placer Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 5 & in the NE¼ sec. 6, T12N, R9E, MDM, about 3 km NNE of Cool, along the Middle Fork American River. There are 2 locations, one of 38.41 acres, the other unpatented and of greater extent. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Deposit extends across the river into Placer County. This location is evident on the topo map as several areas of dredge tailings.
Local rocks include pre-Cenozoic metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks undivided.
