A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the W½SE¼ (SE¼SW¼) sec. 31, T10N, R11E, MDM, about 3.3 km ESE of El Dorado, E & S of Martinez Creek (2 miles SE of Diamond Springs), on private land. The claim comprises 21 acres. Operated by Frank B. Richards. Operated during the periods 1894 to 1896 and 1907 to 1908. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate and greenstone. The ore body strikes NE and dips 90 at a thickness of 1.52 meters. The vein is 2 to 5 feet thick. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 500 foot crosscut adit.
